Improper preparation will result in the paint cracking and peeling not long after the job is complete.  We perform a thorough examination around the entire exterior of the house to determine what areas are most troubling. We look for areas that are peeling, chipping, chalky, discolored or rotting. This is indicative of water damage and those areas are also especially prone to contain mold and mildew. It's crucial that we completely repair any water and moisture problems while removing all mildew, before we apply primer. We pressure wash the entire exterior to remove dirt and focus on the areas that are chipping.

A clean surface is absolutely necessary to have before priming or painting. We look for all areas that need to be re-caulked such as the corners of the trim, where trim meets the walls, and around doors and windows. We inspect all holes and cracks on all surfaces of the exterior and fill them with spackle. We scrape all remaining  paint that didn't come off with the pressure washing, and then sand the area to make sure we have an even surface. After we sand, we clean the surface over the sanded area or use a duster to clean. For woods surfaces, we must wait 48 hours to dry prior to using a surface specific primer. Now we have a clean, caulked exterior, ready to be primed.
